OrbitLingua is an expanding dynamic language school specialized in teaching Italian language and culture to foreign students. We accept a limited number of students at one time, this guarantees the high quality of our services, the friendly atmosphere and a continuous assistance to the students’ needs and requests. Additionally we organise a carefully studied and varied programme of extracurricular activities, including seminars, excursions and special evenings which enable students to discover the many aspects of the Italian culture. Apart from Italian language courses for foreigners, OrbitLingua also offers courses for adults and children in English, German, Spanish and French. In this way, we are able to organize activities that allow the students to meet people whose language is Italian.
The School
OrbitLingua provides the opportunity of studying the Italian language and culture in a perfect environment for relaxation and for enjoying the sun, the sea, and our beautiful beaches.
The school in Orbetello is situated in a quiet place just a short walk from the historical centre. It has been recently completely refurbished and is surrounded by a beautiful garden, an ideal place to have lessons in the open air or to relax in your free time. .
Methodology
The school adopts a fully communicative approach to the teaching of Italian, and the approach is being up-dated all the time. Language is never presented out of context; and grammar, phonology, lexis and all other features of actual language use in everyday situations are analysed. A wide variety of up-to-date authentic material is used in class, thus giving the students valuable information about modern-day Italian culture and society at the same time as developing the students’ authentic linguistic and communicative skills. Amongst the principal techniques and procedures employed in class are: communicative tasks, group work, and dramatisation. The accent is on activity rather than on passive receptivity.
Our teachers
All our teachers are mother-tongue speakers and are university graduates. They are qualified, updated and have an experience of at least three years in the teaching of Italian as a second language. Teaching in Orbitlingua means working in a friendly atmosphere with small groups of students. This enables them to interact better with each student and organise lively, interesting and entertaining lessons.
The classes
Classes have a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 3 students, the average number of learners per class is 5-6. The classrooms are large, well-lit and they have air conditioning. All our classes consist of students with compatible levels of competence. Normally, students' nationalities in each class are various. As a result, our classes are interesting, multicultural groups of people who exchange ideas and opinions and communicate experiences in Italian, a language shared by all.
